At Hancock County Habitat for Humanity (HCoHFH), we value your support and we are committed to protecting your privacy.  HCoHFH created this Privacy Policy to demonstrate the respect we have for your preferences and to disclose our information collection and sharing practices. Regardless of whether you provide us with your personal information via our website or in another manner (e.g. telephone, regular mail or face-to-face), we strive to honor your privacy preferences.

These terms of use apply to the entire website owned by HCOHFH.  Please read the below before using this website.  By using this website, you signify your assent to these terms of use and agree to: 1) abide by the practices described in this Privacy Policy, as may be amended from time to time, and 2) the transfer, processing and maintenance of your personal and sensitive information by HCoHFH.  If you do not agree to these terms of use, you may not access or otherwise use the site.

The Personal Information We Collect: Depending on the type of communication or transaction, the personal information we collect may include, but is not limited to, your name, postal address, zip code, telephone number, organization name, e-mail address, billing information, and/or (until processing is complete) credit card or bank information for donation processing.

HCoHFH also collects and maintains information on events attended, publications received, special requests for program information, and donor comments and suggestions.  HCoHFH uses donors’ information to understand their interests in its mission and to update them on the organization’s plans and activities.

When you visit our website, we may collect some basic information. This includes total number of visitors, pages viewed, and other non-identifying information. We use this aggregate information to improve our site and to make your experience on our website as smooth as possible.

When you make a donation online, the information asked for is used to process your donation(s) and to verify credit card data. We use your mailing address to send your tax-deductible receipt(s) and to keep you informed about our mission.

You can send anonymous donations simply by sending a money order to us at the address found at the bottom of this privacy statement. If you do not give your name and address we will be unable to send you a tax-deductible receipt.

Where & When We Collect Personal Information: You will be asked to provide your personal information when making donations, requesting communications, applying for a job with HCoHFH and/or in connection with other HCoHFH business (whether it is via the web site, e-mail, direct mail or telephone communications).

Information from Minors: We do not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from anyone under the age of 18 or knowingly allow such persons to provide us with their personal information without a parent or guardian’s consent. If you are under 18, do not send any information about yourself to us, including your name, address, telephone number, or e-mail address, unless you have your parent or guardian’s permission. In the event we learn that we collected personal information from anyone under the age of 18, and do not have a parent or guardian’s consent, we will delete that information as quickly as possible. If you believe that we might have any information from or about anyone under the age of 18, please contact us using the details provided at the end of this policy.

Information Security: Information collected is shared with designated staff, board members, volunteers and consultants only on a “need-to-know” basis.

We use one or more third-party financial institutions to process our credit card transactions.  Currently, all on-line transactions are processed through a ‘donate’ link which redirects to PayPal’s secure server – with entered information encrypted using SSL (Secure Socket Layer) before transmission.  While we believe this third-party vendor provides a trusted and secure site and that they will treat your personal information responsibly, we do not control this third-party nor can we guarantee the privacy of information transmitted through their site.

HCoHFH May Share Your Information: Personal information will be shared internally at HCoHFH to complete your donations, to contact you about our on-going work and ways that you can further support our efforts, and/or to discuss employment opportunities.

We may disclose to third parties aggregate statistics regarding donations but these statistics do not include any personally identifying information. The information given may include things such as: total number of donors, total amount of donations for specific periods of time, and referring websites.  Aggregate information of this kind is used to encourage fundraising partnerships.

Except in the limited circumstances outlined below, HCoHFH will never intentionally share your e-mail addresses, phone numbers or financial information.

Exceptions: Aside from donation processing, HCoHFH reserves the right to share your personal information in certain situations:  Necessity. If we have reason to believe that there has been some inappropriate interference with or use of our website, communications, charitable services or personal or real property, or if we have reason to believe that one of the HCoHFH website users, donors, employees or other related parties may have been injured or may have harmed some other party, we will disclose, without notice to you, personal information as we deem appropriate or if compelled by a legal or regulatory authority.
