Maine Innkeepers Fundraiser
Eight years ago, the Maine Innkeepers Association designed a fundraiser, “Hospitality for Habitat” inspired by Marian Burns, owner of Mira Monte Inn and Suites in Bar Harbor.
The innkeepers raised $4,390 in 2005. In 2006, forty-nine MEIA member properties participated, booking over 250 rooms under the program and raised $5,500. In 2007, 31 inns around the State of Maine participated raising $6,000 in 18 days.
Hancock County Habitat for Humanity is very grateful to Greg Dugal, Executive Director of MEIA, and their board of directors, the participating innkeepers, Portland Habitat for Humanity for administering the funds collected and for all the good folks that visited the inns. Maine Innkeepers Association is giving back to our communities.
The fifth annual “Hospitality for Habitat” will be held between May 1st and 23rd. Participating member properties will offer a designated number of their rooms at half the regular rate, in exchange for a $35 check payable to Habitat for Humanity.
